PM Sheikh Hasina Opens Payra Bridge To Traffic

The Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina on Sunday inaugurated the long-awaited bridge that was built over the Payra river in the Lebukhali region along the highway Patuakhali-Barishal for traffic movement, which will pave the way to travel from Barisal to Patuakhali by way of Barisal and Barisal without ferry.

The premier inaugurated the Payra Bridge, joining virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.

After the opening of the Payra Bridge, direct road communication will be established between Dhaka and Kuakata following the completion of the Padma Bridge is completed.

The government approved the bridge construction plan in May 2012, and PM Netanyahu laid foundation stone for the bridge on the 13th of March 2013.

The Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development and the OPEC Fund for International Development have partnered to finance the construction of the bridge through Chinese company Longjian Road and Bridge Construction Bridge.
